Questions · Scotia, NY
Asked constantly,
answered straight.
If your question isn’t here, calling counts as research too — (518) 348-7764 reaches a human who fixes vehicles for a living, and the same number reaches the fleet desk.
Fleet accounts first: how to open one, how billing works, and how drop-offs are staged across 27 bays. Then what Scotia and Schenectady drivers ask about NYS inspections, published prices, the warranty and walk-ins.
Fleet accounts
Do you pick up and deliver fleet vehicles?
Yes. Fleet accounts with ten or more vehicles get pickup and delivery: we collect the unit, service it and return it finished, up to 20 miles from our Route 50 shop in Scotia: Schenectady, Niskayuna, Rotterdam, Clifton Park, Ballston Spa, Amsterdam, Colonie and Latham.
How do I open a fleet account with Fogg’s?
Call the fleet desk at (518) 348-7764 or send the fleet request form; we set up the account in one conversation. Two work vehicles is enough. We record each unit’s VIN, mileage and duty cycle, set preventive-maintenance intervals, and schedule a baseline inspection.
How does fleet billing work?
One consolidated monthly invoice, broken out per vehicle, so cost-per-unit history builds automatically. Approved accounts get net-30 terms. Fleet-management-company vehicles (Enterprise Fleet Management, Element and others) are billed directly to the FMC through AutoIntegrate.
Customer-pay drivers pay at pickup.
How does scheduling work for fleet vehicles?
Fleet units get priority. Breakdowns and safety repairs jump the queue, and with 27 bays we stage several of your vehicles across one morning. Drop off at 7:30 AM and keep the day.
Preventive maintenance follows each unit’s own interval.
What kinds of fleet vehicles do you service?
Everything from a sedan to a medium-duty box truck: cars and SUVs; vans (Transit, ProMaster, Express, Savana, Sprinter, Metris, NV); pickups through Super Duty and HD; cutaway and box trucks; postal LLV and NGDV; and Power Stroke, Duramax, Cummins and Isuzu diesels.
Who are some of your fleet customers?
Fleet accounts include the United States Postal Service and Oshkosh, alongside local businesses, municipalities, contractors, delivery fleets and non-profits across Schenectady, Saratoga and Albany counties. Two vans out of Rotterdam get the same standard as a municipal fleet.
Can you batch New York State inspections for my fleet?
Yes, we are a licensed NYS inspection station. Fleet inspections are batched by sticker month at the $21 state fee. We scan for check engine lights first so a fixable fault never fails a sticker.
DOT inspections for commercial vehicles run the same way.
What records and reports do I get as a fleet customer?
A complete per-vehicle digital history: every inspection finding with measurements, every repair and PM visit, and what each cost. You get cost-per-unit tracking, a due list for maintenance and inspection stickers, and a monthly summary with the invoice. Fleet management companies receive the same documentation.
Visiting the shop
Where is Fogg’s Automotive Fleet & Service Center located?
We’re at 642 Saratoga Rd Suite B, Scotia, NY 12302, on Route 50 in Glenville just past the Western Gateway Bridge. About 10 minutes from downtown Schenectady, 15 from Niskayuna, 20 from Clifton Park, 25 from Saratoga Springs, 30 from Albany.
Do I need an appointment, or do you take walk-ins?
Both. Appointments get priority for larger jobs, but we hold space for walk-ins and same-day problems: flat tires, dead batteries, grinding brakes, check engine light before inspection. Call (518) 348-7764 for the current wait — with 27 bays, it is usually “come on in.”
Can I wait while my car is serviced?
Yes — the waiting area has Wi-Fi and coffee. Oil changes and NYS inspections take about 30 minutes; most brake jobs 1–2 hours. For bigger repairs, drop off in the morning and we’ll call with a written quote before any work starts.
What are your hours?
Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM to 6:00 PM; closed Saturday and Sunday. The early open lets fleet drivers drop a unit and still make their first stop, and commuters leave a car on the way to Schenectady. Call (518) 348-7764 and a person answers.
Can I drop off my vehicle early or after hours?
Yes. We open at 7:30 AM, and fleet units left at open get the first bays of the day. For after-hours drop-offs, ask about the key drop when you book and we’ll explain where to leave keys and paperwork.
Pickup is during business hours.
How do I schedule an appointment?
Three ways: send the request form (we confirm within the hour during business hours), call (518) 348-7764, or stop by 642 Saratoga Rd in Scotia. By phone, a person can triage urgency on the spot. Fleet managers can book several units in one call.
Pricing & honesty
Do you give estimates before doing work?
Always. Nothing is repaired without your approval of a written quote. When a fault needs full diagnostics, you approve that fee up front ($89–$149) and it is credited to the repair.
Fleet accounts can set a pre-approved repair limit per unit.
Is the diagnostic free, or does it cost $89–$149?
Two different things. The free first look is a quick code read and a straight answer. The full diagnostic ($89–$149) is real testing — live data, freeze-frame, smoke test — quoted first and credited to the repair.
Intermittent and electrical faults usually need it.
Are your prices competitive with other Schenectady-area shops?
We publish typical price ranges on every service page — brakes $189–$429 per axle, oil changes $49–$69, NYS inspection at the $21 state fee — which few Capital Region shops do. We aim to price well below the dealerships with the same capability.
Why should I trust your recommendations?
Because we show our work: measurements in millimeters, photos of your actual components, and a now/soon/never call on every finding. If your brake pads have 60% left, the report says so. Fleet accounts see every finding documented per unit.
Is your work covered by a warranty?
Yes — parts and labor are covered by our 24-month / 24,000-mile warranty on qualifying repairs. If something we fixed fails within that window, we make it right. Details are printed on your invoice, and for fleet accounts it follows the unit’s service history.
The work itself
Do I need an emissions test in Schenectady County?
Yes, as part of the NYS inspection. For 1996 and newer gas vehicles under 8,501 lbs, it is an OBD-II scan: a lit check engine light or “not ready” monitors fail. The Schenectady County fee is $21.
We fix and inspect in one visit.
Do you work on all makes and models?
Yes — foreign and domestic: cars, SUVs, vans, pickups through Super Duty and HD, cutaway and box trucks, and light and medium-duty diesels. ASE-certified technicians use factory-level scan tools across brands, so a Honda and a Power Stroke F-350 each get factory-grade diagnostics.
Will having service done here void my factory warranty?
No. Under the federal Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, your manufacturer cannot require dealership service to keep the warranty valid. We follow factory maintenance schedules, use parts that meet or exceed OE specification, and document everything with mileage and dates for any claim.
Can you handle the same repairs as a dealership?
Yes. We’re part of the Fogg’s Automotive family, serving Scotia since 1955, so the scan tools, Hunter alignment rack and standards are dealership-grade — with independent-shop pricing and straight talk. Fleet accounts get the same technicians and bays; only the billing differs.
Do you sell tires?
Yes — name-brand tires quoted good/better/best for your vehicle, including commercial-rated van and light-truck tires for fleet units. We also do flat repairs (about $35), rotations, balancing, TPMS service and winter-tire swaps; studded tires are legal October 16 through April 30.
