Tire brands we carry,
compared honestly.

Ten brands, three price tiers, and a straight answer about which one your driving needs.

Fogg’s Automotive Fleet & Service Center in Scotia, NY, minutes from Schenectady, sells and installs 10 tire brands at three price tiers, from Michelin and Bridgestone to General, quoted by size with the treadwear warranty printed on every quote.

The comparison

Every brand, one table.

Tier is price position, not quality rank. A value tire on a second car is the right tire.

Also by order:
  • Pirelli
  • Toyo
  • Yokohama
  • Falken
  • Kumho
  • Uniroyal
  • Dunlop
  • Kelly

Brand logos identify the tires we sell and install; no affiliation or endorsement implied. Availability varies by size — call to confirm.

How we quote

Good, better, best — and when each is the right answer.

Every quote shows three tiers with the installed price and the brand’s treadwear warranty, so you compare cost per mile, not just the sticker.

Premium

When the car is a keeper.

Longest treadwear warranties, shortest wet stops, quietest ride. For a car you will drive 12,000-plus miles a year for several more years, it is usually the lowest cost per mile.

Brands: Michelin, Bridgestone, Goodyear, Continental, BFGoodrich, Nokian Tyres

Mid-tier

When the math is close.

Most of the premium performance at a real discount. The right call on a lower-mileage vehicle or a working truck where the premium badge buys little.

Brands: Cooper, Firestone, Hankook

Value

When the budget decides.

General is Continental’s value brand, with honest wet grip and a 75,000-mile warranty on the RT45. Right for second cars, end-of-lease vehicles and lighter fleet classes.

Brands: General Tire

Before you choose

What drivers ask about tire brands.

Which tire brand is best for winter in Schenectady?

For a winter set: Bridgestone Blizzak WS90, Michelin X-Ice Snow or Nokian Hakkapeliitta R5, all studless. For rural glare ice: a studded Hakkapeliitta 10, General Arctic 12 or Cooper Evolution Winter, legal October 16 to April 30.

Is a premium tire brand worth the extra money?

If you keep the vehicle and drive 12,000-plus miles a year, usually yes: longer warranties and shorter wet stops mean a lower cost per mile. On a second car or a low-mileage vehicle, a mid-tier or value tire is the smarter buy.

Can I mix tire brands on my car?

Replace in matched pairs per axle at minimum. On all-wheel-drive vehicles, all four should match in brand, model and tread depth or the drivetrain can be damaged. On front- or rear-wheel drive, the new pair goes on the rear.

You don’t list the brand I want. Can you get it?

Almost always. Pirelli, Toyo, Yokohama, Falken, Kumho, Uniroyal, Dunlop and Kelly are available by order, usually next day. Call (518) 348-7764 with the brand, line and size and we confirm the price and date first.
