Quick answer

Rideshare Inspection, in plain English.

Yes — Fogg’s Automotive Fleet & Service Center in Scotia, NY, minutes from Schenectady, handles Uber and Lyft vehicle inspections while you wait. Upstate New York platforms key off your annual NYS inspection — $21 here — and when your driver app asks for its own signed inspection form, we complete, sign, and photograph it for $49–$99. Most drivers are out inside 30 minutes.

Rideshare platforms require proof that the vehicle carrying passengers is safe: brakes, tires, lights, steering, horn, wipers, seat belts, glass, and more.

In upstate New York that proof starts with the annual New York State inspection — every vehicle driving for Uber or Lyft in the Capital Region has to carry a current sticker — and some drivers are additionally prompted by the app for a platform inspection form when activating a vehicle or at renewal.

Drivers need either one done fast, done right, and documented in the exact format the app accepts, because a rejected upload costs earning days.

We run whichever checklist you need point by point. For the NYS inspection, that’s the full state safety and OBD-II emissions test at the state-regulated $21 fee.

For a platform form, we complete and sign the official document and photograph it so you can upload from the parking lot.

If something fails — most commonly tires or brake measurements near the limit after a season of airport runs to Albany International — you get our standard measured evidence and a published-price quote on the spot, and we re-inspect after the repair.

Time is money in this line of work, literally.

That’s why rideshare inspections get while-you-wait priority in our 27 bays, and why a failed-item quote comes with honest triage: what the platform and the state require now versus what can wait until the next 10,000 miles of fares between Schenectady, Saratoga, and the Albany airport.

What’s included

  • New York State safety and OBD-II emissions inspection ($21 state fee)

  • Photo of the signed form for immediate app upload
  • Measured quote at published prices for any failed item

“Nichole is absolutely amazing! From our first conversation on the phone, to walking out with my new car, she was so friendly, knowledgeable, transparent and helpful to my stepmother and I. Nichole helped us get our new vehicles and explained everything- every step of the way. Not to mention she will make you laugh (more than once!) She truly made this experience positive, stress free, and smooth! If you’re in need of a new car, please go see Nichole! You will not be disappointed.”

“I just had an awesome experience at Foggs Auto. Buying a car is a big decision and AJ was helfpful, kind, and knowledgeable. He was straightforward and transparent, sitting with me and going over all my information in order to provide me with options that were actually in my price range while still taking into consideration the type of vehicle I needed. He didn’t try to upsell and didn’t try to pressure me into choosing something I couldn’t afford. I had a co-signer from out-of-state and Foggs took care of making sure all the paperwork made it to them and provided a label for them to send the paperwork back. I ended up with a reliable car, in a price range I could afford, and the process was seamless. I also want to mention their awesome lifetime engine coverage and lifetime NY state inspection. I would highly recommend AJ and Foggs for your next auto purchase!!! (Sorry for the yellow picture, I took it while the wildfire smoke was bad.)”

See all FAQs
01Do you fill out the official Uber/Lyft form?

Yes — bring the current form from your driver app (or we’ll print it), and we complete, sign, and photograph it so you can upload before leaving. The apps reject incomplete or unsigned forms, so we treat the paperwork as part of the job.

02Does New York require a separate state inspection for rideshare?

Every vehicle registered in New York needs the annual NYS safety and emissions inspection regardless of rideshare, and upstate platform rules rely on that sticker. If your app also asks for its own platform form, we complete that in the same visit. Both are usually done inside 30 minutes.

03What do rideshare inspections most commonly fail on?

Tires below tread minimums and brakes near the measurement limit — the two things fares wear fastest. A lit check engine light will fail the NYS emissions portion. All of it comes with measured evidence and a published-price quote, and the re-inspection after our repair is free.

04Do I need an appointment?

Walk-ins work most weekdays — rideshare inspections get while-you-wait priority. If your platform deadline is today, call first and we’ll confirm a slot: (518) 348-7764.
