What we install

Sedans, crossovers, minivans

The 80,000-mile touring benchmark — the tire we put on more Capital Region commuters than any other.

CrossClimate2

Cars, crossovers, SUVs

All-weather with the mountain snowflake — a real winter without the changeover, 60,000-mile warranty.

Defender LTX M/S2

Truck & all-terrain tires

Half-ton pickups, full-size SUVs

The quiet, long-wearing highway tire for trucks that commute and tow; 70,000-mile warranty.

Pickups and SUVs that see gravel

A mild all-terrain for trucks that work without giving up highway manners.

X-Ice Snow

Winter tires

Cars, crossovers, SUVs

Studless winter tire with outstanding ice grip and long wear for the category.

Agilis CrossClimate

Commercial van tires

Transit, ProMaster, Express, Sprinter

Our fleet-van default — severe-snow rated, load-rated for a full van, built for curbs.

Other Michelin lines and sizes are available by order, usually next day. Tires are quoted by size, load rating and speed rating; the treadwear warranty for your exact tire is printed on the quote.

In plain English

Where Michelin earns its keep here

Michelin is the brand we recommend when a driver asks for the tire that will still be quiet, safe in the rain and wearing evenly at 60,000 miles.

The Defender 2 is the all-season touring benchmark — an 80,000-mile treadwear warranty, confident wet braking on I-890 and the Northway, and a ride that stays composed on Route 5’s frost heaves — and it is the tire we put on more Capital Region commuter cars and crossovers than any other.

For drivers who want one tire that handles a real winter without a changeover, the CrossClimate2 carries the three-peak mountain snowflake symbol and stops in snow nearly as well as some dedicated winter tires, at the cost of a somewhat shorter 60,000-mile warranty.

Trucks and cars on lifts across the shop floor at Fogg’s in Scotia, NY

On trucks and SUVs the Defender LTX M/S2 is the highway tire for half-ton pickups, Tahoes and Expeditions that commute and tow — 70,000-mile warranty, quiet, excellent in rain — while the LTX A/T2 adds a mild all-terrain tread for trucks that see gravel.

For a dedicated winter set, the X-Ice Snow is one of the two studless tires we recommend most alongside the Blizzak WS90: outstanding on ice, long-wearing for a winter tire, and quiet enough that drivers forget it is on.

Michelin tires cost more up front; on a cost-per-mile basis for a driver who keeps a vehicle, they are usually the least expensive tire we sell.

For fleets, the Michelin Agilis CrossClimate is the default we spec on Transit, ProMaster and Express cargo vans: severe-snow rated so the account runs one tire year-round, load-rated for a full van, and built with a sidewall that survives curbs and job sites.

Michelin’s LT and commercial lines back most of the standardized specs on our fleet accounts, and Michelin’s treadwear and road-hazard terms are printed on every quote so an owner or a fleet manager can compare cost per mile against the next tier down.

We stock the common Michelin sizes and have most others next morning.

Capital Region price range

$25–$40

per tire, mount & balance

Tire prices vary by size and brand — we quote options at good/better/best. Flat repair ~$35. Rotation $25, free with most other services. TPMS sensors typically $65–$120 each installed. Seasonal changeovers on your own wheels are priced like a rotation.

Tire installs about an hour; flats, rotations, and changeovers while you wait.

Good to know

Questions about Michelin

Is the Michelin Defender 2 worth the price over a mid-tier all-season?

For a driver who keeps the car and puts 12,000-plus miles a year on it, usually yes. The Defender 2’s 80,000-mile warranty and wet braking mean a lower cost per mile and better stopping on I-890 in the rain than most value tiers.

For a second car doing 5,000 miles a year, the money is better spent on a mid-tier tire.

Michelin CrossClimate2 or a dedicated winter tire for Schenectady?

If you drive plowed roads and want one set of tires, the CrossClimate2 is the best all-weather tire we sell and handles a typical Capital Region winter well.

If you climb Glenridge Road before the plows, drive rural roads, or have slid once and don’t want to again, a dedicated winter set like the X-Ice Snow on its own wheels still stops shorter on ice.

Which Michelin tire do you put on fleet cargo vans?

The Agilis CrossClimate, on most Transit, ProMaster and Express fleets we service. It carries the severe-snow symbol, so the fleet runs one tire year-round with no changeover; it is load-rated for a full van; and the sidewall holds up to curbs and job sites.

It is also the spec we standardize across identical units so the account carries one tire per class.

Do you stock Michelin tires or order them?

We keep the common Capital Region sizes on hand — 225/65R17, 235/65R17, 215/55R17, 265/70R17 and the Transit and ProMaster commercial sizes — and have most other Michelin sizes the next morning from the distributor.

Call with your size and we will tell you same-day or next-day before you come in.
