The full guide

A fleet vehicle gets worked on in one of two places: in a bay on your schedule, or on the shoulder of I-890 on the driver’s. Preventive maintenance is the discipline of choosing the first one every time.

Most fleet managers put a day of unplanned downtime on a light-duty unit in the hundreds of dollars before the repair bill, and the failure behind it is almost always one a $49–$69 oil-change visit with a measured inspection would have caught a month earlier.

Our PM programs turn that into a cost-per-mile number you can plan around.

Read the full guide

Every program is built per vehicle class on an A/B/C schedule.

The A visit happens at every oil interval: oil and filter to spec, brake pad and rotor thickness in millimeters, tread depth in 32nds on every corner, tire pressure, fluids, belts, hoses, lights, wipers, and a battery test in the cold months.

The B visit, every second or third A, adds rotation, engine and cabin filters, fuel filter and water separator on diesels, brake-fluid and coolant testing, and an alignment check on the Hunter rack.

The C visit is annual: everything in B plus the New York State inspection, fluid exchanges that have come due, spark or glow plugs on interval, and battery replacement by age before the first hard freeze.

Intervals follow the duty cycle — full-synthetic cars and SUVs at 5,000–7,500 miles, gas vans and pickups on stop-and-go Schenectady routes at 5,000, light and medium-duty diesel at 7,500–10,000 with fuel filters every 15,000–22,500.

The records are the product. Every unit carries a digital history with numbers, not just dates — pad thickness, tread depth, battery health, coolant freeze point, the photo of the brake line starting to scale — so wear trends before it becomes a repair.

We schedule by mileage from your telematics odometer reports or driver logs, send due notices by unit, track every NYS inspection expiration, and export the per-vehicle history for resale, warranty, or audit.

Scheduling is built around route time. With 27 bays and 28,000 square feet on Route 50, we stage multi-vehicle drops — four vans at 7:30 AM, four more at noon — so a PM visit is a few hours, not a day.

Early drop-off is standard and an after-hours key drop lets a driver leave a unit the night before.

Accounts with ten or more vehicles get pickup and delivery — we collect units from your yard and return them finished, up to about 20 miles from the shop — and every account gets turnaround targets per unit that we hit: small repairs same day, medium repairs in one to two days, extensive work on the parts clock.

Billing is one consolidated monthly invoice with per-vehicle line items, net-30 terms for approved accounts, pre-approved spending limits so a $200 repair found during a PM isn’t waiting two days on phone tag, and fleet-management-company billing when your vehicles are managed through an FMC.

Two work vehicles is enough to open an account.

Also for one vehicle

Also for one truck: a single work van gets the same A/B/C schedule, measured records, and published prices — the account just has one unit on it. Two vehicles is enough to open a formal fleet account.

Common questions

How many vehicles do we need to open a fleet account?

Two. If keeping vehicles on the road affects your revenue, you qualify — a contractor with two vans is a fleet account here, with the same per-unit records, batching, and monthly invoice as an account with 200 units.

What does a fleet PM visit include and what does it cost?

An A visit is oil and filter to spec plus a measured inspection — brake thickness, tread depth, battery test, fluids, lights, belts, hoses — with photos logged to the unit.

For most gas vans and pickups the oil service is $49–$69, with volume pricing set per account; the $21 NYS inspection is folded into the annual visit.

How do you keep track of each vehicle’s service intervals?

Every unit gets a digital record keyed to its VIN and your unit number. We schedule by mileage from your telematics odometer reports or driver mileage, send due notices by unit, and track NYS inspection expirations on a calendar we share with you.

The history exports per vehicle for resale, warranty, or an audit.

Can you bill our fleet management company instead of us?

Yes — and electronically.

Fogg’s is on AutoIntegrate, the authorization platform the large fleet-management companies use, so for vehicles managed by Enterprise Fleet Management, Element and other FMCs we submit the estimate through AutoIntegrate, the FMC approves it, and the FMC pays us directly; several of our accounts already run this way.

For other managed or national-account vehicles we submit estimates and invoices through the FMC’s purchase-order process and bill them directly, with VIN, unit number, and odometer on every line. Vehicles you own outright go on one consolidated monthly invoice with net-30 terms for approved accounts.
