In plain English
Where Continental earns its keep here
Continental tires are the ones we reach for when wet braking is the priority — and in the Capital Region, where a July thunderstorm on I-890 or a November sleet on the Thruway is the normal condition, that is most of the year.
The TrueContact Tour is a long-wearing touring all-season with an 80,000-mile treadwear warranty and some of the shortest wet stopping distances in its class; the PureContact LS is the sportier, quieter choice for sedans and the original-equipment-style fit for many Volkswagen, Audi, BMW and Mercedes-Benz models that came from the factory on Continentals.
If your European car’s handling felt right when it was new, the matching Continental line is usually why.

For SUVs and trucks, the CrossContact LX25 is the quiet, 70,000-mile highway tire for crossovers and three-row SUVs that stay on pavement, and the TerrainContact A/T is the all-terrain we recommend most to drivers who want capability without the noise: severe-snow rated, a 60,000-mile warranty, and civil on the highway in a way aggressive all-terrains are not.
For winter, the VikingContact 7 is a premium studless tire built for exactly the freeze-thaw ice and slush cycle upstate New York produces, and it belongs in the same conversation as the Blizzak WS90 and X-Ice Snow.
On fleets, Continental’s VanContact A/S and A/S Ultra are a core commercial spec on Transit, ProMaster and Sprinter vans — Sprinter in particular, where Continental is often the factory fitment — and Continental’s 19.5-inch commercial sizes cover cutaways alongside Bridgestone Duravis.
We standardize one VanContact size and load range per vehicle class on an account, log tread depth per unit at every PM, and bundle rotations into the visit because the drive axle on a loaded van wears tires on a different clock than the front.
Continental also owns the General brand, which gives an account a value tier from the same distributor when the premium spec is more than a particular class needs.
Capital Region price range
USD$25–$40
per tire, mount & balance
Tire prices vary by size and brand — we quote options at good/better/best. Flat repair ~$35. Rotation $25, free with most other services. TPMS sensors typically $65–$120 each installed. Seasonal changeovers on your own wheels are priced like a rotation.
Tire installs about an hour; flats, rotations, and changeovers while you wait.

Questions about Continental
Why do you recommend Continental for wet roads?
Because the wet-braking numbers are consistently among the shortest in each class — the TrueContact Tour and PureContact LS in particular.
In the Capital Region that matters more than dry grip: rain, sleet and slush are the normal condition on I-890 and the Thruway for most of the year, and a few feet of stopping distance is the whole margin.
Should I keep Continentals on my Volkswagen, Audi or BMW?
Often, yes. Many European cars came from the factory on a Continental line tuned to the car, and the PureContact LS or the OE-marked Continental keeps the handling and noise level the car was designed around.
We will quote that alongside a Michelin or a General so you can see the price difference, but switching brands on a European car sometimes changes the feel more than drivers expect.
Is the Continental TerrainContact A/T quiet enough for a daily-driven truck?
Yes — it is the all-terrain we recommend to drivers who want capability without the drone. It carries the severe-snow symbol and a 60,000-mile warranty, handles gravel and a muddy job-site track, and on Route 50 it sounds like a highway tire.
Drivers who need a more aggressive tread for plowing should look at a DuraTrac or KO2 instead.
What Continental tires go on Sprinter and Transit fleets?
The VanContact A/S and A/S Ultra, in the C-metric and LT sizes the vans require. Sprinters frequently come from the factory on Continentals, so staying with the VanContact keeps the load rating and handling consistent.
Fleet accounts get one standardized spec per vehicle class, tread logged at every PM, and rotations bundled into the visit.
