In plain English

Where Bridgestone earns its keep here

Bridgestone is, for most Capital Region drivers, the Blizzak.

The WS90 is the studless winter tire we recommend most for cars and crossovers: on the packed snow and black ice that glaze Glenridge Road and the Western Gateway Bridge before the salt trucks catch up, the stopping-distance difference against an all-season is not subtle, and it manages that without studs, so it is legal year-round and quiet on dry pavement.

The DM-V2 is the SUV and light-truck version for Highlanders, Pilots, 4Runners and half-ton pickups. Both wear a soft compound that should come off in mid-April; we note the tread at every changeover so you know how many winters are left.

Outside of winter, Bridgestone’s touring lines are among the quietest tires we install.

The Turanza QuietTrack is the premium all-season for sedans and minivans — an 80,000-mile treadwear warranty, excellent wet traction and a cabin-noise level that drivers coming off worn tires notice immediately — and the Dueler H/L Alenza Plus is the equivalent for crossovers and SUVs that live on pavement, also at 80,000 miles.

The WeatherPeak is Bridgestone’s all-weather entry with the three-peak mountain snowflake for drivers who want one set with real snow capability. For trucks that work, the Dueler A/T Revo 3 is a capable, severe-snow-rated all-terrain.

On the fleet side, Bridgestone’s Duravis line is a mainstay of our 19.5-inch commercial specs on E-450, F-450 and Isuzu NPR cutaways, and the Blizzak LT gives a dedicated winter option for HD pickups and vans that plow or run early routes.

Bridgestone and Firestone share a parent company and a distributor network, which means wide size availability and next-morning delivery on most sizes we do not keep on the rack; the two brands let us quote a premium and a value option from the same supply line, so an account can standardize on one spec per vehicle class without a sourcing problem.

Capital Region price range

USD

$25–$40

per tire, mount & balance

Tire prices vary by size and brand — we quote options at good/better/best. Flat repair ~$35. Rotation $25, free with most other services. TPMS sensors typically $65–$120 each installed. Seasonal changeovers on your own wheels are priced like a rotation.

Tire installs about an hour; flats, rotations, and changeovers while you wait.

Good to know

Questions about Bridgestone

Is the Blizzak WS90 the best winter tire for Schenectady?

It is one of the two we recommend most, with the Michelin X-Ice Snow. The WS90 is exceptional on ice and packed snow, quiet for a winter tire, and studless, so it is legal all year. The Nokian Hakkapeliitta R5 is the other premium contender.

For most Capital Region drivers the WS90 is the safe default; call with your size and we will tell you what is on hand.

How many winters does a set of Blizzaks last?

Typically three to five seasons for a driver who runs them November to April and does 10,000–12,000 miles a year.

The outer winter compound wears to a harder base, so grip fades before the tread is gone; we measure the tread at every changeover and tell you honestly when a set has one winter left.

Which Bridgestone tire is best for a family SUV that stays on pavement?

The Dueler H/L Alenza Plus — quiet, excellent in the rain and backed by an 80,000-mile treadwear warranty. If you want some snow capability without a second set, the WeatherPeak carries the mountain snowflake symbol.

If you have a true winter commute, pair the Alenza with a DM-V2 winter set on its own wheels.

Do you put Bridgestone tires on fleet trucks?

Yes — the Duravis commercial line is our usual 19.5-inch spec on E-450, F-450 and Isuzu NPR cutaways, and the Blizzak LT is the dedicated winter option for HD pickups and vans that cannot take a snow day.

Fleet accounts get one standardized spec per vehicle class and tread depth logged at every PM.
