The 5.2 4HK1 in NPR-HD, NQR, and NRR trucks lives on route work that rarely gets hot enough for passive regeneration — so the DPF loads, the regen lamp nags, and a missed forced regen becomes a derate on Route 7. We watch soot load and regen history on live data, service EGR coolers and DEF dosing before they strand a box truck, and schedule forced regens into the preventive interval.

Gas N-series: 6.0 and 6.6 Vortec wear

Gas NPRs run GM 6.0 and 6.6 V8s under the cab — plugs, exhaust manifold bolts, and cooling plastics wear on delivery duty cycles, and a misfire lights a check-engine light. Familiar GM hardware, truck-grade intervals.

Brakes, front-end, and tilt-cab access

A 14,500 to 19,500-lb cab-over hauling a landscaping crew or a parts delivery route eats front pads, rotors, hydro-boost components, and kingpin or ball-joint hardware.
