Standard maintenance bills at our published ranges — oil service $49–$69 for gas vans and pickups (diesel quoted by engine), brakes $189–$429 per axle, mount and balance $25–$40 per tire, NYS inspection $21 — with vehicle-class and volume pricing set per account. Upfit electrical and medium-duty repairs are quoted per unit after inspection.

PM visits same-day, usually under two hours; most repairs same-day across 27 bays, with multi-vehicle drops staged by shift.

The vans that run Colonie are two kinds, and they fail differently. Airport-area shuttles — passenger Transits, Sprinters, cutaway buses — idle for hours with the air-conditioning or heat running, then loop the terminal, cooking alternators, batteries and brakes without accumulating miles.

Cargo vans and box trucks serving Wolf Rd retail, Albany-Shaker Rd offices and the Latham distribution yards do the opposite: loaded, high-mileage Northway and I-90 running that eats tires, rear springs and brake pads on a schedule a car never sees.

Our commercial program sets intervals by duty cycle — engine hours for the shuttles, route miles and load for the cargo units — and inspects what each type actually fails: brake wear per axle, tire cupping, suspension bushings and springs, driveline, charging system under real load, upfit and lift wiring, DEF and emissions on diesel vans.

Light- and medium-duty cutaways and box trucks fit our bays. NYS inspections ride along in the same visit, records go to each unit, and billing is monthly, purchase order or FMC. Pricing is quoted per account.

Getting here from Colonie & Latham

Two ways. Route 7 (Troy-Schenectady Rd) west from Latham through Niskayuna into Schenectady, then Erie Blvd to Freemans Bridge Rd, across the river and onto Route 50 north — all surface roads, about 25 minutes.

Or from Wolf Rd and the airport, the Northway south to I-90 west, Thruway Exit 25 onto I-890 west, exit at Route 5 / State St, cross the Western Gateway Bridge into Scotia and turn right onto Route 50.

Questions

Our Colonie airport shuttles barely put on miles — why are they always in for brakes and alternators?

Because hours, not miles, are wearing them. A shuttle idling a terminal loop with the AC on runs its alternator and belt at full load all day and brakes from 25 mph every hundred yards.

We set shuttle maintenance by engine hours, test charging under the real electrical load, and spec brake pads for heat rather than mileage.

Do you work on high-roof vans and box trucks, and what is your size limit?

Yes. Cargo vans including high-roof Transit and Sprinter, cutaways, and box trucks to 19,500 lbs GVWR fit our lifts and bays — E-350/E-450 and Express cutaways, F-450/F-550 chassis, and Isuzu NPR-class cab-overs. Larger medium and heavy-duty trucks we refer honestly to a heavy-truck facility.

Do you service Mercedes Sprinter and Metris vans?

Yes — gas and diesel Sprinters and the Metris, including the diesel emissions systems behind most Sprinter faults on short urban routes: DEF dosing, EGR carbon, and DPF regeneration.

Diagnostics on diesel units are $95–$200, credited to the repair, and maintenance follows the Mercedes schedule with measurements logged per unit.

How often should a delivery van get an oil change?

For a loaded van in stop-and-go Capital Region delivery work, every 5,000 miles on full synthetic, even if the oil-life monitor says it can go longer — the monitor underestimates idle time and short-trip cold starts in a Schenectady winter.

Every visit includes measured brakes and tread, which is where loaded vans surprise people.

Does my 14,500 lb box truck need a NYS inspection, a DOT inspection, or both?

Every New York-registered vehicle needs the annual NYS inspection, with fees that vary by weight class. If the truck operates in commerce at over 10,001 lbs GVWR it also needs the annual DOT inspection under 49 CFR 396.17.

Many box trucks need both, on different calendars — we schedule them into one visit and track both expirations on the account.
