Diesel Service & Repairin Saratoga Springs, NY
Light and medium-duty diesel for fleets and one-truck owners — Power Stroke, Duramax, Cummins, Isuzu — DEF/DPF, EGR, injectors, fuel systems, and cold-start work.
Saratoga County
Why Saratoga Springs drives for it
Diesel service and repair for Saratoga Springs trucks at Fogg’s in Scotia, 25 minutes down Route 50 — Power Stroke, Duramax, Cummins and Isuzu. Live-data diagnosis of injectors, turbos and emissions systems, fuel-filter and DEF intervals, towing-grade brakes; heavy diesels over 8,500 lbs take a safety-only NYS inspection here.
Saratoga County’s diesels tow horses.
The three-quarter-ton pickups that run trailers from the farms on Nelson Ave and Route 29 to the track and to shows across the Northeast work at the hard end of a diesel’s duty cycle — hot, heavy and with long idles at the barn.
Then they sit through a winter and are asked to start at 5 AM in January.
What fails is predictable: injectors and high-pressure pumps starved by neglected fuel filters, EGR and DPF systems clogged by idle time, glow plugs, batteries, and brakes that fade on the Route 50 grades with a loaded trailer behind.
We diagnose with live data — rail pressure, injector balance rates, boost against commanded, DPF soot load — and show you the numbers before quoting parts, because the dealer’s version of a derate often starts with the most expensive component.
Preventive intervals are set per truck: fuel filters, DEF and crankcase ventilation, coolant, oil analysis for the hard towers. Diesels over 8,500 lbs registered in Saratoga County take a safety-only NYS inspection, handled in the same visit.
Farm and contractor fleets run on account with one monthly invoice; the single truck gets the same technician.

What our diesel includes
- Full-system diesel diagnostics with live data — DPF soot load, DEF/SCR, NOx, EGR, boost
- Forced regeneration, DPF cleaning, and DEF dosing-system repair
- EGR valve and cooler service; NOx and differential-pressure sensor replacement
- Fuel filter and water-separator service on interval; injector and high-pressure pump work
- Glow plug, intake heater, block heater, and dual-battery testing before winter
- High-capacity oil service, HD coolant, towing-schedule transmission and axle fluids
- Towing-grade brake, bearing, and suspension work; NYS inspection on the same visit
Also for one vehicle
Also for one truck: the plow contractor with a single Super Duty gets the same live-data diagnosis, the same fall cold-start check, and the same published diagnostic fee — a diesel that won’t start in January is downtime whether you own one truck or forty.

See all FAQs01My Saratoga diesel derates pulling a horse trailer up the Route 50 hills — is that the turbo?
Maybe, but a derate under load is just as often a clogged fuel filter, a failing high-pressure pump, or a DPF loaded up from barn idling. We read rail pressure, boost and soot load on a live-data road test under load and tell you which, with the numbers, before recommending a turbo. Guessing at that part is a very expensive guess.
02Do you work on diesel pickups, or only fleet trucks?
Both, and the work is identical. Owner-operators with one Power Stroke, Duramax, or Cummins get the same technicians, live-data diagnostics, and published $95–$200 diagnostic fee as a fleet of thirty; heavy trucks beyond our lift capacity we refer honestly.
03Why does my diesel keep trying to regen?
Short trips are the usual culprit — the DPF needs sustained exhaust heat to burn off soot, and a route of two-mile hops around Schenectady interrupts the cycle every time. Sometimes it’s a stuck differential-pressure sensor or an EGR problem masquerading as a soot issue. Live data tells us which, and the fix may be a scheduled forced regen rather than a new filter.
04My DEF warning shows a countdown — how urgent is it?
Urgent. Once the countdown reaches zero, federal emissions logic limits the truck to low speed until the fault is fixed — not a shop policy, the law baked into the software. Bring it in with mileage to spare and we’ll diagnose whether it’s fluid quality, a NOx sensor, the pump, or the dosing injector. Fleet units with a countdown go to the front of the line.
05Will a DPF or EGR delete pass the New York State inspection?
We don’t do deletes, and you shouldn’t buy a truck that has one. Removing emissions equipment is a federal violation regardless of weight class. On diesels under 8,501 lbs the OBD-II inspection fails it outright; heavier diesels get a safety-only inspection in Schenectady County, but a deleted truck still carries the federal exposure and voids the powertrain warranty.
