In plain English

Where BFGoodrich earns its keep here

BFGoodrich is the all-terrain brand, and the All-Terrain T/A KO2 — now succeeded by the KO3 — is the tire a Capital Region contractor, plow operator or Jeep owner usually has in mind when they say “real all-terrains.”

The reason is the sidewall: a CoreGard construction built to shrug off the rock cuts, curb strikes and job-site debris that split lesser tires, paired with a tread that carries the three-peak mountain snowflake symbol and bites on an unplowed site in February.

It is louder than a highway tire and costs more than a value all-terrain, and for a truck that genuinely works off pavement it is worth both.

BFGoodrich has filled in the range around the KO2 with tires for drivers who want the look without the compromise.

The Trail-Terrain T/A is the quieter, longer-wearing all-terrain for trucks and SUVs that mostly commute — Tacomas, 4Runners, Rangers, Broncos — with a 60,000-mile warranty and the snowflake symbol.

The Advantage Control is BFGoodrich’s touring all-season for sedans and crossovers, with a 75,000-mile treadwear warranty on T and H speed ratings and solid wet manners, and it is often a sharp-priced alternative to a Michelin Defender 2 from the same parent company.

For a dedicated winter tire, the Winter T/A KSI covers cars and crossovers.

On fleets, the Commercial T/A All-Season 2 is a long-wearing LT highway tire for HD pickups and vans that run loaded on pavement, with a 60,000-mile warranty that is unusual for a commercial tire, and the KO2 and KO3 in load range E are the standard spec on plow trucks and landscaping rigs across our contractor accounts.

Because BFGoodrich is a Michelin brand, it ships from the same distributor on the same next-morning schedule, and an account can run a Michelin Agilis spec on its vans and a BFGoodrich LT spec on its trucks with one supply line.

Tread depth is logged per unit at every PM; on 4WD trucks, rotations are bundled into the visit because mismatched depths across the axles stress the transfer case.

Capital Region price range

$25–$40

per tire, mount & balance

Tire prices vary by size and brand — we quote options at good/better/best. Flat repair ~$35. Rotation $25, free with most other services. TPMS sensors typically $65–$120 each installed. Seasonal changeovers on your own wheels are priced like a rotation.

Tire installs about an hour; flats, rotations, and changeovers while you wait.

Questions about BFGoodrich

KO2 or KO3 — which should I buy?

The KO3 is the successor and the one we quote first; it improves wet and snow traction and tread life while keeping the KO2’s sidewall toughness. KO2s remain available in many sizes and are a good buy where stock is being cleared.

Either way, buy the correct LT load range for a truck that plows or tows — usually E on a Super Duty or 2500HD.

Are BFGoodrich KO2s too loud for a daily driver?

They are noticeably louder than a highway tire, and most owners who commute daily get used to it; some don’t.

If the truck sees a job site a few times a month and Route 50 the rest of the time, the Trail-Terrain T/A gives you the look and the snowflake rating with far less noise and a 60,000-mile warranty.

We will tell you honestly which fits your week.

Do BFGoodrich all-terrains need an alignment when installed?

We check alignment on the Hunter rack with every set, and on a lifted or leveled truck, a plow truck, or any truck that has hit a Route 7 pothole this winter, it almost always needs correcting.

An aggressive all-terrain that is toed out scrubs its edges off in a season — the alignment protects a set that costs more than most.

What BFGoodrich tire fits a fleet of plow and landscaping trucks?

The KO2 or KO3 in load range E is the standard spec on most of our contractor accounts — it bites on unplowed driveways, survives curbs and debris, and holds up under a plow frame.

For HD trucks that run loaded on pavement, the Commercial T/A All-Season 2 wears longer and runs quieter. One spec per vehicle class, tread logged at every PM.
