In plain English

Where Firestone earns its keep here

Firestone is Bridgestone’s mid-tier brand, and in the Capital Region it is best known for the Transforce — the LT highway and all-terrain tire on more work trucks, service bodies and cargo vans than almost any other line.

The Transforce HT2 is the pavement spec for Super Duty and 2500HD service trucks, E-Series and Express vans and the postal fleet; the Transforce AT2 adds an all-terrain tread for trucks that see job sites and gravel.

Both are built to carry a loaded commercial vehicle every day, and both are priced below the premium LT lines, which is why Transforce is the standardized spec on several of our fleet accounts’ truck classes.

For personal vehicles, the Destination LE3 is the long-wearing highway tire for SUVs and crossovers — a 70,000-mile treadwear warranty and good wet traction at a mid-tier price — and the Destination A/T2 is the mild all-terrain for pickups that commute.

The WeatherGrip is Firestone’s all-weather car tire with the three-peak mountain snowflake and a 65,000-mile warranty, one of the least expensive ways for a sedan or crossover driver to get real snow capability from a single set.

For a dedicated winter tire, the Winterforce 2 and Winterforce 2 UV are studdable, inexpensive and effective — a mainstay for rural drivers who stud inside New York’s October 16 to April 30 window.

Because Firestone and Bridgestone share a distributor, we can quote a premium and a mid-tier option from the same supply line on nearly any size, and next-morning availability on a Transforce or Destination size we do not keep on the rack is routine.

On fleet accounts, Firestone fills the sensible middle: a Transforce HT2 spec on service trucks and vans keeps cost per mile low without the safety compromise of a passenger tire under a loaded vehicle, tread depth is logged per unit at every PM, and rotations are bundled into the visit.

For an owner-operator with one van, the same per-tire quote and the same tracking apply.

$25–$40

per tire, mount & balance

Tire prices vary by size and brand — we quote options at good/better/best. Flat repair ~$35. Rotation $25, free with most other services. TPMS sensors typically $65–$120 each installed. Seasonal changeovers on your own wheels are priced like a rotation.

Tire installs about an hour; flats, rotations, and changeovers while you wait.

Good to know

Questions about Firestone

Why is the Firestone Transforce on so many work trucks?

Because it does the job at a sensible price. The Transforce HT2 and AT2 are true commercial LT tires — load-rated for a service body or a loaded van, tough on curbs — priced below the premium LT lines.

On a fleet account that runs ten Super Dutys, the difference per tire adds up, and the Transforce gives up nothing in safety.

Is the Firestone WeatherGrip a good winter option for a sedan?

It is a good all-weather option — the mountain snowflake means it passed a severe-snow traction test, and it handles a plowed Capital Region commute well for a single-set driver on a budget.

It is not a dedicated winter tire; for hills, early commutes and ice, a Winterforce 2 or Blizzak WS90 set on its own wheels still stops shorter.

Firestone Destination LE3 or Bridgestone Alenza for my SUV?

The Alenza is quieter and carries an 80,000-mile warranty against the LE3’s 70,000; the LE3 costs meaningfully less. For a high-mileage commuter who keeps the SUV, the Alenza’s cost per mile usually wins.

For a lower-mileage SUV or one with a few years left, the LE3 is the smarter buy. Both ship from the same distributor.

Do you install studded Winterforce tires?

Yes. The Winterforce 2 is studdable, and we install studs for drivers on rural or routinely icy roads inside New York’s legal window of October 16 through April 30. Stud installation is quoted per tire.

For a plowed commute, the same tire run studless is quieter and nearly as capable.
